Dani's "Nitrous Star" persona grew from being part of the festival and EDM community. She started off performing in local night clubs doing go go dancing and freestyle hoop dancing on stage, collaborating with a variety of local companies.
In 2013, she was invited to perform and host a hoop zone at Squamish Festival through local company Zynth&Co where she got to perform for the likes of Skratch Bastid, Madeon, Pretty Lights, and more. Since then she has performed at other festival events such as Awakened Festival, Block Rockin Beats, and Shambhala in 2017 & 2019 with Evoke Mgmt.
Whether the performance is freestyle, choreographed to tell a story, roving around, Dani can be seen giving it her all and performing her heart out.
Dani practices both single and multi-hoop tricks with regular day, programmable LED, and reflective hoops. Having a wide array of hoops in her collection allows her to suit the prop to the performance in terms of lighting, costume, and theme. With over 50 hoops, and a collections that continues to grow, almost anything is possible.
Freestyle is perfect for events with live music but performances can be choreographed to tell a story, see more below.
While hula hoops are Dani's main prop of choice, she has picked up and now performs with a variety of props including:
-Fibre optic whips
-Silk fans
-Regular fans
-Isis wings
-Poi
-Flow wand
-Umbrella/Parasol
-Basically anything she can get her hands on
Dani also likes to return to her roots and dance without props.
Almost everyone wants to learn to hula hoop but how do they get started? Dani has facilitated Hoop Zones at community events, the Camping festival series, Awakened Festival, and Shambhala just to name a few. Not only is she a BCRPA registered and Hoopnotica & Hoop Play Level 2 certified instructor, she provides the hoops for everyone to use (hoops made by local hoopsmith The Hoop Fairy). Its a great opportunity for everyone to get silly and learn something new.
While freestyle performances can be perfect for live events, choreographing a solo or group number to tell a story can really bring the WOW factor. Whether this is on stage or roving around in character, guests can follow along and really feel like something special is happening. Roving interactive performances are a great way to have guests feel apart of the event adding a special experience to their day/night.
